Gaiola das Popozudas

After the last video I though I’d write something about Gaiola das Popozudas, also since the next Funk Mundial release on man Recordings in gonna feature their hit ”Late Que Eu Tô Passando” with a hot electro house treatment by Austrian producers Makossa & Megablast. You can listen to the track at Man Recordings’ site. It out on 28.9. (and the vinyl 11.10.)


The original ”Late Que Eu Tô Passando” is actually some kind of a girl power manifest. (though also giving nice dancing instructions...) (and suggesting that men should go down on women and give’em some oral sex...)


Here’s some of the lyrics translated:

Sex, or some hints of it are pretty much present on every song. On their freshest one ”Agora Sou Piranha” Walesca sings how she ”goes to the baile without underwear”. So no wonder Gaiola das Popozudas is so popular is Rio.


In some of their shows (so I’ve heard), they also have as an highlight an ugly tiny male stripper that notoriously comes out with a huge inflatable penis. Only in Brazil...

Also in the beginning of the year there was a big fuzz about a porn video produced by “Brasileirinhas”. Gaiola das Popozudas was featuring on it, but would the girls actually gonna be acting on it? And they are; but they only perform their songs on it, not really fuck. Anyway the video is heavily marceted with the popularity and image of the Gaiola das Popozudas and the thing works vice versa for their popularity...
