DJ Edgar – Coming with a full blast!

DJ Edgar is one of those persons you just have to like when you meet him: He's a bit like a gentle giant. The man's been DJing for 17 years now, played with the equipe of Furacão 2000, backed up the duo William & Duda (Duda do Borel nowadays) in the 90's, after that worked with MC Mascot and the duo Gorila e Preto, and for quite a while backed up Mr. Catra, toured with him and did most of the production for his albums.

Anyway, now he's going solo and planning an European tour for May. If you're interested in booking him contact Johan von Friedrichs.

His EP in Baile Funk Masters series has been out already half a year, but if you're not yet familiar with his stuff, do it now. His remix of Léo Canhoto's and Robertinho's "Chumbo Quente" is sure a hot gun blaze!

Also Edgar just posted me some goodies, I'm sure you'll also like! First check out this youtube clip where he's playing live MPC.

The second one is brand new with his new toy, MPC 500...

And here's an exellent 22 min mix he just did:

DJ Rideon - RaveRaveRaveYeahYeahYeah

Oh yeah, new mix is out again!

This time it's straight up mix for the dancefloor: only party tunes, with a lot of house; dirty, bouncy, bass-heavy house; rave synths, mad basslines, killer vocals, wicked samples, weird sounds. And then some speed garage, bassline, and dubstep vibes towards the end. So turn on, tune in, drop out and rave like you've never raved before!

If you dig the shit, please leave a comment. Also, DJ Rideon is going on an european tour 2-20.5, so if you wanna book me for your club or venue, or know someone who could or should, holla back at timo.santala(at)gmail.com

Os Ousados - Damn these guys dance!

I've got the youtube fever on, so I have to share some of my favourites with you...

Os Ousados must be the coolest male group of baile funk (along Os Hawaianos maybe). I mean, shit, when these guys get their dance moves on, it's like something totally crazy! Just check out these:

The first one is from the Tsunami 2 DVD of Furacão 2000.

Here they do some of their 2006 hit songs on the tv show Caldeirão do Huck.

Something of their huge popularity tells also this short clip, where one of the dancers, Sandrinho, is swallowed by the crowd full of girls, and the others desperately try to pull him out... ”They fingered me!” is what he says, when they finally get him up.

Mc Créu - Dança do Créu

Shit, I pretty much hate this song but I have to bring it on, because this live video puts together something essential of brazilian culture and baile funk...

"Dança Do Créu" by MC Créu must be the most silly, stupid and irritating baile funk song ever, and maybe because of that, it's popular as fuck at the moment in Rio. Check out this video out of Furacão 2000's Tsunami 2 DVD where MC Créu goes off. The whole song is practically about 5 stages of shaking it faster and faster. On the second half of the clip he calls in the girls and that's where you see what they mean with popozuda (=a girl with a big ass) and what's the whole dancing scene like in Rio. And as we non-brazilians also note, the brazilian idea of a good looking ass, differs by some 30cm at least...
